Simply Red will be on tour in four continents – Asia, Oceania, America and Europe – with dates in London, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City and Moscow.

United Kingdom

Simply Red will be on tour in the UK in Scotland, Wales and Britain. In Scotland they will be in Glasgow (Braehead Arena, 24 March, and the Clyde Auditorium, 6 April). In Wales the only city will be Cardiff (Cardiff International Arena, 26 March).

In Britain they will also be in Sheffield (Sheffield Arena, 27 March), Birmingham (LG Arena, 28 March), and along the south coast in Bournemouth (Bournemouth International Centre, 30 March) and Brighton (Brighton Centre, 31 March), but also in the capital, London (the O2 Arena on April, 2 and 3), and in Manchester (M.E.N. Arena, 5 April). Other concerts will be held in Newcastle (Metro Radio Arena, 7 April), and Nottingham (Trent FM Arena, 9 April).

Another “group” of concerts will start on July 22 at the Sandown Park in Esher, UK. Liverpool will be covered three days later at the Liverpool Echo Arena for “Summer Pops”. Then the Newmarket Racecourse follows at Newmarket on July 31 and next month will start on the first day of August in London at the Kenwood House. One day later the Isle of Wight will follow at the Osborne House and August 15 will be another chance for their fans in Newbury for the same Course. They will also be in Northern Ireland in Belfast at the Odyssey Arena on August 22. What about Ireland? Dublin, The O2, on August 21…

Australia and New Zealand

Another continent that Mick Hucknall and the other musicians will visit will be the Oceania. In Australia they will be in Perth (Kings Park & Botanic Garden, 4 and 5 February), Barossa Valley (Peter Lehmann’s Winery, 7 February), Yarra Valley (Rocheford Winery, 8 February), Melbourne (Palais Theater, 10 and 11 February), Canberra (Royal Theatre, 17 February) and Sydney (Sydney Opera House, 18 and 19 February), but also Hunter Valley (Bimbadgen Estate, 21 February) and Brisbane (Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton). The tour in this continent will go on in New Zealand in Taranaki (Bowl of Brooklands, 13 February), Napier (Church Road Vineyard, 14 February) and Auckland (Villa Maria Estate, 15 February).

Other dates – Europe, Italy and other countries

The date in Thailand will be at the Impact Arena of Bangkok on the 1st of February. They will also be in Northern Italy in Milan (Teatro degli Arcimboldi, 16 and 17 May), in Conegliano Veneto (Palasport, 19 May) and in Sarzana (Stadio Miro Luperi, Tuesday 11 August). The other dates will be in Chile (Vina del Mar Festival and Casino on 26 and 28 February at Vina del Mar, not very far from Valparaiso and Santiago), Belgium (at the Sportspaleis in Antwerp on April 18), Poland, Luxembourg (Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette on April 19), France and other countries. In the Netherlands Mick Hucknall and the other musicians will be in Amsterdam at the Heineken Music Hall on April 22 and in Denmark at the Forum of Horsens two days later. Then they will go more northern to Sweden for a concert at the Annex of Stockholm and to Finland at the Hartwall of Helsinki respectively on April 26 and 28. The last date of April will be in very East Europe at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow on April 30.

08.10.09 I know that Barack Obama is under pressure for his decisions concerning the health system, but there is another reason to criticise him… Why no reactions by Greenpeace and WWF against Obama and his government that would let Westinghouse go on with Italian policy for – improbable? – nuclear energy? No nuclear energy in Italy is good as in Denmark although Italy is not Denmark… And what about Steven Chu, US energy secretary, who is behaving as a bad politician from this point of view? I am not suggesting that the Republicans are better, but some Democrats are not good.

- Were environmentalists “elated at the election of Barack Obama, and his appointment of the Nobel Prize winning physicist Steven Chu as Energy Secretary”?! Were they really elated?

Furthermore, there was a tv program in Italy that found serious problems in managing nuclear waste in Italy or reports that were not written in a good way… Without considering a ship that was sunk by ‘ndrangheta, the mafia in Calabria, near an Italian coast… Or even a mountain that has been found radioactive in Italy…

Against? I am sure Barack Obama will be against the interest of Westinghouse having to do with the possible – or impossible – nuclear energy project in Italy. Maybe there will be no more nuclear energy produced in Italy…

George Clooney sarà intervistato da Giovanni Minoli, l’inventore della Storia siamo noi, in questo programma e sullo stesso canale, dopo le sette e mezza del mattino insieme a Robert Baer. Quest’ultimo sarebbe un agente della Cia, i servizi segreti americani e, prima, ci sono dalle sei del mattino altri La storia siamo noi sui servizi segreti, un tema su cui forse bisognerebbe essere cauti. Si parlerebbe di Palestina e Cia, Olp (Organizzazione per la liberazione della Palestina), tale Alì Hassan Salamè e la strage di Monaco. Un evento che dovrebbe essere accaduto – se non sbaglio – durante le Olimpiadi tedesche degli anni ‘70. Ma posso sbagliarmi. Nuovamente cinema – ora basta… – su questo canale Rai alle 9.50 con Gillo Pontecorvo e Storie.

A Sciacca e Porto Empedocle (ma anche in viale Strasburgo e via Francesco Di Blasi a Palermo, a Mazara del Vallo, Catania – Picanello, Messina – Ganzirri e Tremestieri) proiezione di State of Play, un film d’azione ambientato nel mondo del giornalismo con Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck ed Helen Mirren e la regia di Kevin Macdonald. Eccovi la presentazione nel trailer.

Eccovi una recensione, alcune informazioni in inglese ed uno sguardo complessivo. Eccovi quanto ho scritto su altri film (fra cui Fast and Furious) alcune settimane fa.

Una precisazione iniziale: se vi troverete a Torino, potrete assistere all’anteprima del film Uomini che odiano le donne del regista Niels Arden Oplev, un film in cui recitano gli attori Noomi Rapace e Michael Nyqvist. Necessario inviare una mail a questo indirizzo di posta elettronica per la proiezione di giovedì 14 maggio alle 21 (sala 7 del cinema Pathé Lingotto di Torino, in via Nizza 262). Il film è tratto da un libro dello scrittore Stieg Larsson e personalmente – vedendo i riferimenti – vi sconsiglio sicuramente il film (un’immagine di presentazione molto esagerata e scritte come sadico porco, verme e stupratore). Mah… Scritto questo, passiamo ad alcuni film attualmente in programmazione.

Film ad Agrigento, Porto Empedocle, Ribera o in qualche altra parte d’Italia? Due sale del capoluogo agrigentino (ma anche altre sale nazionali) offrono Franklyn di Gerald Mc Morrow e Che l’argentino di Steven Soderbergh. Quest’ultimo è un film che dovrebbe raccontare per immagini la vita di Che Guevara. Ecco, inoltre, quanto scrive Cineblog sul film (e permettetemi peraltro di consigliarvi un film del regista di Central do Brasil, Walter de Salles, proprio sulla vita del Che).

Quanto a Franklyn, voglio scrivervi prima di tutto che è stato realizzato in collaborazione con Film4, un canale televisivo britannico di proprietà di un altro canale britannico più importante – Channel4 – emittente che ha dato molto spazio lo scorso Natale ad una persona che ne dovrebbe avere pochissimo, Ahmadinejad.Vedete, dunque,  Bbc1 e 2, Five o ITV se vi trovate nel Regno Unito…

Detto questo, passiamo alla pellicola. Franklyn sarebbe ambientato nel contesto britannico dell’Inghilterra in una Londra troppo religiosa e non dovrebbe essere adatto a chi è particolarmente emotivo o non può vivere emozioni molto forti. Gli attori principali sarebbero Eva Green, Ryan Phillippe e Sam Riley.

Vi aggiungo, inoltre, i trailer di Fast and Furious e Mostri contro alieni sperando di scrivere qualcosa di più non appena possibile. Ci sarebbero, comunque, nel secondo film una donna e molti mostri o alieni e nel primo inseguimenti, tatuaggi, un clima primaverile o estivo e molta azione.

Al festival di Cannes di quest’anno anche Bright Star della regista neozelandese Jane Campion, un film d’amore atteso. E vi chiedo: è giusto fare riferimento a James Ivory? Certtamente i fiori che si vedrebbero in una scena del film (forse lavanda?) appaiono molto belli… Quanto alla trama, c’è il poeta inglese John Keats, c’è un attore americano che recita la parte di un personaggio scozzese, c’è il Bedfordshire, ma non c’è la casa di Keats ad Hampstead, a nord di Londra… E forse c’è anche Roma…

01.12.2008 I would like to remember here in this blog the soul singer James Brown who died on Christmas Day on 2006. The “Godfather of Soul” was 73 and made his debut at a venue. Moreover, the director Spike Lee would have thought of making a film about him and Brown would have approved the use of his own music on the soundtrack. The film should be directed in this year and the project should be overseen by the Oscar-winning producer of A beautiful Mind Brian Grazer.

Sappiate anche che nella classifica 50 Songs di una televisione musicale potrebbero esserci oggi il remix di «Revolver» di Madonna a cura di David Guetta ed i video «Watch The sun Come Up» degli Example e «Morning After Dark» di Timbaland con Nelly Furtado e Soshy. Questo pomeriggio, sabato diciannove dicembre, dopo le cinque.

05.12.09 Ma chi sono gli Editors, protagonisti del terzo concerto Play To Stop – Europe For Climate di una tv musicale? Stanno trasmettendo immagini stasera, sabato cinque dicembre, da Budapest, Ungheria, per un evento organizzato dalla Commissione europea. Vedere anche più sotto alla voce Moby (che canterà per la stessa tv domenica dopo le sei di sera) e non dimenticatevi di votare per questo blog… Ah, in programma anche per la classifica di Hitlist Italia la presenza in studio degli Zero assoluto subito dopo nella serata di domenica, fino alle nove.

26.11.09 Ma davvero si sentono le influenze di Billy Holiday, Bessie Smith e Van Morrison nella musica di Mary Coughlan? E di altri noti musicisti come Cole Porter, Leonard Cohen e Jacques Brel o Elvis Costello, George Gerwin e Tom Waits? E – sperando di non aver fatto errori – vi piacciono i suoi album Tired and emotional, Mary Coughlan sings Billie Holiday e The House of ill repute? Magari preferite «Strange Fruit» di Billy Holliday, se non ho sbagliato a scrivere qualcosa.

Ci sarete al «Milano Music Club» al Teatro Dal Verme? Mi chiedo, peraltro, dove sia la via S. Giovanni sul Muro (forse vicino a  Cordusio) e se siano molto bravi i suoi musicisti Brian Condor, Rod Patterson e Conor Brady. Qualora frequentiate per la prima volta questo blog, sappiate che potete votare successi della Coughlan o dei suoi notissimi modelli più sotto.

24.08.09 – Guetta. Cosa ne pensate? Soddisfatti? Esce oggi – lunedì 24 agosto – «One love», l’album di David Guetta. E come vi sembra «When Love Takes Over» con Kelly Rowland o il suo video? A quanto pare, – si è appreso dai media – avrebbero collaborato a questa sua opera i «Black Eyed Peas» e tali Estelle ed Akon.

La signorina ha cambiato, inoltre, uomo ed ha registrato a New York due nuovi singoli, «Celebration» e «Revolver», le uniche due novità di una raccolta di grandi successi che sarà pubblicata venerdì 25 settembre in Italia e lunedì 28 in America. Madonna «Veronica Ciccone» avrebbe cantato «Celebration» nel corso dello «Sticky & Sweet Tour» che sarebbe addirittura la serie di concerti con il maggiore incasso nella storia per un cantante solista. Poi mi direte, peraltro – e magari – cosa ne pensate del videoclip di «Celebration» girato il sedici luglio a Milano durante una festa di due stilisti dopo un concerto.

14.07.09 Ebbene sì… La cantante pop Madonna stasera, martedì 14 luglio, allo stadio San Siro di Milano e, fra due giorni, giovedì 16 luglio, allo stadio Friuli di Udine. Non mancherete?

08.07.09 - Semplicemente rosso. I Simply Red suoneranno all’Arena Santa Giuliana di Perugia il 12 luglio; al Teatro D’Annunzio di Pescara il 13 ed all’Esedra di Palazzo Te a Mantova una sera dopo. Ci sarà anche Sarzana allo Stadio Miro Luperi l’11 agosto dopo Karima.

08.07.09 – Lenny Kravitz. Concerto di Lenny Kravitz a piazza Napoleone, a Lucca, sabato 11 luglio dalle 20.30 per il locale Summer Festival. Kravitz tornerà in Italia sabato 25 luglio a Brescia, in piazza Duomo, e domenica 26 al Palalottomatica di Roma. Enzo Avitabile (vedere sotto) sarà, invece, a Summonte, in provincia di Avellino, l’11 luglio dalle 21 per il festival Sentieri mediterranei. Godetevi il concerto – che vi consiglio – perché l’ingresso è libero…

Quanto al Summer Festival, mercoledì 15 luglio toccherà al campano Enzo Avitabile dalle 21.30 con i Bottari e la Scorribanda per un concerto gratuito in piazza Napoleone. Poi, giovedì 16 luglio tocca a James Taylor alle 20.45 preceduto da Amos Lee. Sempre in piazza Napoleone, anche in questo caso, e con due prezzi da trentacinque e cinquanta euro.

Moby e… Sabato 18 luglio sarà la volta di Burt Bacharach dopo Karima alle 20.45. Per assistere a questo spettacolo di piazza Napoleone si dovranno pagare, anche in questo caso, trentacinque o cinquanta euro, mentre costeranno trenta euro l’esibizione di James Morrison ed Amy Macdonald (piazza Napoleone, venerdì 24 luglio alle 21.30) e trentaquattro quello di Moby (sabato 25 luglio alle 21.30, ovviamente in piazza Napoleone). C’è, tuttavia, un concerto gratuito – una Summer Giovani – giovedì 23 luglio alle 21.30 e si chiude, infine, con John Fogerty domenica 26 luglio alle 21.30 (trentadue euro più prevendita ed in piazza Napoleone).

A proposito di Amy Macdonald, se siete svizzeri o vivete al Nord, sappiate che canterà a Locarno lunedì 14 luglio nella locale piazza Grande.

I Radiohead. «In Rainbow», l’ultimo album del gruppo britannico dei Radiohead, offerto in internet in due modalità (offerta libera ed edizione lussuosa e costosa), sarebbe stato, ciò nonostante, molto scaricato da internet in maniera illegale.
Il significativo  download illegale di questo lavoro è stato sostenuto da due società – una di valorizzazione musicale, la «Mcps-Prs», e una di ricerche di mercato, la «Bigchampagne» – che hanno realizzato uno studio dei cui risultati riferisce l’articolo «Flop dei download legali di musica» della versione online del quotidiano Financial Times Deutschland. Secondo Eric Garland, capo della «Bigchampagne», l’apprezzamento per l’album avrebbe comunque regalato al gruppo un’enorme richiesta di biglietti per il tour di quest’anno.
